Prime minister accused of blocking military leaders from speaking
The Times reports No 10 has advised press officers of a ‘ministers only’ rule preventing senior leading military figures and spy chiefs from giving interviews/ making public statements.

Reason unclear but a source suggests “paranoia over govt messaging before an election”
“The insider added that control in No 10 was worse under Rishi Sunak than under previous prime ministers” “As a result [of raising concerns] Admiral Radakin and General Sanders…are said to have been prevented on several occasions from speaking to the media.”
“Some spy agencies have been blocked from issuing statements about specific events, another source said. One dept dealing with security issues was told it could issue ‘reactive’ statements only in case it distracted from the No 10 agenda”
[MRT: I will be interesting to learn which are those specific events, naval operation perhaps?]

According to reports, Radakin was asked by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to stay in his post until autumn 2025, a request that was reportedly approved by King Charles III.
