The British missile destroyer HMS Dragon, which entered the waters of the Black Sea, ignored the warning about the inadmissibility of entering the designated area of the Black Sea and several cruise anti-ship missiles were fired in its direction. It is known that the warship was taken to be escorted by Russian military aircraft and Russian ships of the Black Sea Fleet, actively tracking the movements of the destroyer.

On 8 October 2022, at 6:07 am, a fire broke out on the Crimean Bridge as a result of an explosion, which occurred on the road bridge, on or under the westbound vehicle lanes running from Russia to Kerch in occupied Crimea. Two two-lane vehicular spans of the bridge collapsed into the water. Two adjacent eastbound lanes on independent structure survived. The railway bridge was also significantly damaged by fire on railway tanker cars. Four people were killed.

Nord Stream reported on that date in 2015 that a "munitions object" had been cleared by the Swedish armed forces, without giving more detail on the object.
