It is odd that the attack submarine which could also be used for undercover operations after trials got hull cleaning which is done before missions. Was this submarine involved in the plot or another one which returned to the UK port mere few days after Nordstream was attacked? LOOKS LIKE UNDERSURFACE ASSET WAS DETECTED
On 1,2,3 Sept 2022 - USA: US Military Helicopters Circled Around Future Nord Stream Leaks For Hours In September. In particular, at the beginning of the month, a US Navy Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter loitered over the location of pipelines in the Baltic Sea near Bornholm for three days in a row on September 1, 2 and 3.

It is curious that on September 2, almost in parallel with the US military, a military helicopter NH90 of the Dutch Navy was flying in the vicinity of Bornholm Island, probably observing the activities of the Americans.
US helicopters, according to Flightradar24, also flew over the branches of Russian gas pipelines on September 10 and September 19.

On 3 September 2022 Gazprom has completely Stopped Supplies on Nord Stream for an Indefinite Period. In a statement, Gazprom said it had discovered "oil leaks" in the turbine during a planned three-day maintenance operation and that "until it is repaired ... the transportation of Nord Stream gas has been completely suspended." On its Telegram page, the company posted a photo of cables covered in brown liquid, AFP reported.
Earlier in the day, the Kremlin warned that the future operation of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, one of Gazprom's main supply routes, was at risk due to a lack of spare parts.
"There are no technical reserves, only one turbine is working," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"So the reliability of the operation, of the whole system, is at risk," he said, adding that it was "through no fault" of Russian energy giant Gazprom.
Turbine maker Siemens Energy said the oil leak, which it blamed on Gazprom, was "not a technical reason to stop work".
"Such leaks do not normally affect the operation of the turbine and can be sealed on site," he said, adding that "no maintenance work has been contracted".
Other news describe the event on 3 September 2022: Russia cuts off gas exports to Europe via Nord Stream indefinitely. On Friday, Russian state energy giant Gazprom said it would not resume flows through the pipeline on Saturday as planned because it had detected an oil leak at its Portovaya compressor station. The pipeline has been shut since Wednesday for maintenance.
“Until the issues on the operation of the equipment are resolved, gas supplies to the Nord Stream gas pipeline have been completely stopped,” Gazprom said in a statement.
The Nord Stream 1 pipeline is a key artery carrying Russia’s vast gas supplies to Europe, accounting for about 35% of Europe’s total Russian gas imports last year.
Since June, Gazprom has slashed flows through Nord Stream 1 to just 20% of its capacity, citing maintenance issues and a dispute over a missing turbine caught up in Western export sanctions.

On September 4, 2022, a Cessna 551 Citation II/SP, registered as OE-FGR, took off from Jerez, Spain, headed for Cologne, Germany. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot reported a cabin pressure malfunction to air traffic control. After passing the Iberian Peninsula, communication with the aircraft was lost. The plane continued on autopilot, flying over Europe and into the Baltic Sea without landing in Cologne. It flew for nearly two hours more until it ran out of fuel and crashed into the Baltic Sea off the coast of Latvia. All four people on board, including the pilot, were presumed dead. The crash was attributed to hypoxia, likely due to the cabin pressure issue, causing the occupants to lose consciousness.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Friday that "Russia's war in Ukraine presented Europe with the opportunity to finally end its dependence on Russian energy".
Blinken made the comments after a surprise visit to Ukraine while en route to Brussels where he said he would be discussing energy security at a meeting with NATO representatives.
"There's also a tremendous opportunity … finally once and for all, to move away from this dependence on Russia, to get rid of the chokehold that Russia has on Europe, using energy as a weapon, and to diversify supply, diversify routes," Blinken said.

USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), and embarked 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), are operating in the Baltic Sea to strengthen interoperability with key NATO allies and partners since May 2022.
In August 2022, the ARG-MEU, consisting of Kearsarge, USS Arlington (LPD 24) and USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), trained alongside the Finnish and Swedish Navies to foster a shared goal of preserving security and stability in the Baltic region.
After completing the exercises with the Finnish Navy, Arlington and Gunston Hall conducted a scheduled port visit in Riga, Latvia, Aug. 20. They later joined the rest of the ARG-MEU to participate in a maneuvering exercise with the Swedish Navy, Aug. 30.
"Our ability to support the ARG's logistics and maintenance periods in July and the ships' port visits in August demonstrate our commitment to facilitating end-to-end sustainment for U.S. ships across Europe's High North region as the ARG-MEU crewmembers accomplish their mission of strengthening relationships with Baltic allies and partners while ensuring maritime security throughout the region," MacKenzie said.
Kearsarge ARG is under the command and control of Task Force 61/2. Embarked commands with the ARG include Amphibious Squadron SIX, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Fleet Surgical Team 2, Fleet Surgical Team 4, Tactical Air Control Squadron 22, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 22, Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 28, Assault Craft Unit 2, Assault Craft Unit 4, Naval Beach Group 2, and Beach Master Unit 2. The Kearsarge ARG and larger amphibious task forces provide military commanders a wide range of flexible capabilities including maritime security operations, expeditionary power projection, strike operations, forward naval presence, crisis response, sea control, deterrence, cyber operations, security cooperation and counter-proliferation, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief.
Between 13 -19 September 2022 the universal landing ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) was in Gdynia, Poland.

Paul Ignatius is the latest U.S. Navy ship to conduct a port visit in Riga, following the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) just last week and fellow destroyer USS Arleigh Burke (DDG 51) in July of this year.
Paul Ignatius is currently on patrol in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe (NAVEUR) area of operations as a member of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces-Europe (FDNF-E) force.
She began her patrol on Aug. 1, 2022 and joined up with the Kearsarge ARG in the Baltic Sea, Aug. 30, 2022.
Four U.S. Navy destroyers are based in Rota, Spain and are assigned to Commander, Task Force 65 in support of NATO’s Integrated Air Missile Defense architecture.

On May 11, Switzerland-based Nord Stream 2 AG was awarded a provisional stay of bankruptcy until Sept. 10 2022, according to a notice in the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce. In a new notice dated Sept. 8, a court in Zug awarded a four-month extension of the stay of bankruptcy from Sept. 10 until Jan. 10, 2023. There have been calls from within Germany in recent weeks to allow Nord Stream 2 to begin operations after flows through the first Nord Stream system were curtailed and then halted altogether, with gas prices having surged to new records as a result.
It is highly possible that the perpetrator was waiting for the decision. The Swiss court decided to postpone the bankruptcy for half a year. The window of opportunity due to the temperature and weather conditions in Baltic sea would not allow such operation in the middle of the winter so the time was short. EU Foreign minister Borrell disclosed that some parties, likely Germany, were lobbying for the end of the conflict and relaxing sanctions. Bjørn Arild Gram will visit the Norwegian Defense Research Institute (FFI) on 16 September at Kjeller.
During the visit to Kjeller, Bjørn Arild Gram had his political adviser Marie Lamo with him. Major General Henning Frantzen, department director Marianne Magnæs and senior advisor Idun Mostulien also participated.
In just under three hours, Gram got an insight into some of the many tasks the institute is responsible for. FFI's support for defense planning is central. Additionally, the ships’ actions at sea will be supported by aircraft and helicopters of the Air Force, Special Forces and specialised shore units such as the Maritime Missile Unit, the 6th Radioelectronic Centre, anti-aircraft squadrons, sapper battalions or the Naval Command Battalion – enumerated Dulas.
‘Shark’ operations will also be carried out in cooperation with the forces of the Baltic Naval Squadron, which includes ships from the Baltic countries as well as specialists from the Marine Unit of the Border Guard, the Maritime Search and Rescue Service and the maritime offices in Szczecin and Gdynia.

On 18 September 2022 - RU: Baltic Fleet corvette performs anti-submarine missions at sea
As part of the planned combat training, the corvette crew worked on the tasks of searching for and destroying a simulated enemy submarine in the Baltic Sea.
The corvette crew, in cooperation with the Ka-27PL anti-submarine helicopters of the naval aviation fleet, carried out a series of joint exercises to search for, track and destroy a simulated enemy submarine using radar and hydroacoustic equipment and the ships' anti-submarine weapons.
On 18 September 2022 The Russian sailing ship Sedov (four masts, one of the largest of its kind in the world) left Kaliningrad toward Bornholm.
