That was on 19th of September.
On 19 Sept 2022 "Norway must rely mostly on its allies" NEWS ANALYSIS: As the leader of Norway’s neighbouring Russia shocked the world again, now with nuclear threats, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre readily concedes that his government must rely on the US and other NATO allies for any needed defense. They’ve all been gathered at the UN General Assembly in New York this week, but just before that, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre was flown out to visit a US aircraft carrier at sea.
The carrier visit confirmed once again that the US and Norway are close allies and also that US forces will continue to maintain a strong presence in Norwegian territory, not least along its coast. “What gives Norway security is that we have allies who have capacity,” Støre told newspaper Aftenposten while standing on the deck of the USS Gerald R Ford on Monday.
When asked why he’d taken the time to visit the USS Gerald R Ford at the start of a hectic week in Washington DC and at the UN in New York, Støre told Aftenposten it was to see “the core of Norway’s security.”... Defense Minister Gram added that while Norway “is a small country, it contributes strongly to the NATO alliance through intelligence gathering, new fighter jets, the new surveillance aircraft and special forces."

Since spring 2022 , the Navy's most important contribution to the Enhanced Vigilance Activities has been the Baltic Guard measure . A work cell in the Maritime Operations Center ( MOCMaritime Operations Center) in Glücksburg near Flensburg organized to move as many national exercise projects as possible from the North Sea to the Baltic Sea. This is intended to increase the presence of the fleet there....
“There has been a significant shift in the projects of our ships, boats and aircraft from outside to the Baltic Sea,” confirms Frigate Captain Ulrich F. from the MOCMaritime Operations Center. And he adds: “This applies to both national and international units. However, exact figures, data and facts are classified.”
At the same time, the Navy with Baltic Guard is offering its partners in the Baltic Sea region the opportunity to take part in all of these exercises. Above all, this means that not only corvettes from Warnemünde and minehunters from Kiel, but also increasingly frigates from Wilhelmshaven are training their craft directly on NATO's northeastern flank - together with ships from the Polish or Estonian navies, for example.
"Our allies expect a leadership role from us"
The German Navy had made half of its fleet, including submarines, auxiliary and reconnaissance ships, available for the Enhanced Vigilance Activities in the spring - partly before the outbreak of war between Russia and Ukraine. In February, the naval command assigned 28 of them, practically all of them that were not in a shipyard for maintenance and repair, to NATO units or diverted them from individual training projects in the North Sea to the central and eastern Baltic Sea.
“The motto was: Everything that swims goes out,” said Inspector Kaack in a recent interview with Welt Online. “Was it sustainable? No. Was it right? In any case. Because we have shown: Not with us, Mr. Putin!” As a result, the Navy was able to determine “normal behavior of the Russian fleet with a few exceptions in the aviation area.”
The content of Northern Coasts 2022 was initially the usual training in cooperation between warships of different types and nationalities.
In addition, the large-scale exercise this early autumn had other focuses: including training anti-submarine warfare specifically in the Baltic Sea.
Those involved also practiced creating a multinational, cross-military, detailed military situation picture of the region and continuously updating it over the period of the maneuver.
The major maritime military training event ended on September 20, around 40 hours earlier than planned. The success is considered assured, the balance sheet is positive. The participating naval forces of 14 nations have shown to be operationally ready. The German Navy is prepared to take on responsibility in the Baltic Sea region.
On 19 September 2022 German ship “Schleswig-Holstein” visits Lithuania
Over the weekend from September 16 to 19, 2022, the frigate “Schleswig-Holstein” was in the port of Klaipėda - for multinational exchanges during the Northern Coasts exercise. The submarine hunting frigate from Wilhelmshaven is currently taking part in this naval exercise, alongside other ships and boats from the German Navy and naval forces of friendly nations... Immediately after docking on Friday morning, September 16, Brune and Commander Frigate Captain Andreas Mückusch welcomed on board dignitaries from the city of Klaipėda, the host Lithuanian Navy and representatives of the German Embassy.
On 19 September 2022 - GER: Botschaft Polen DE, @PLinDeutschland: "Baltic Sea states face myriad hybrid and conventional threats from Russia in the maritime domain. Fascinating to be part of training by @KoerberIP for security experts, including military maneuvers onboard 🇩🇪 corvette Oldenburg @deutschemarine and exchanges with @chiefdeunavy"
THE US NAVY MISSION IS STILL UNCHANGED - PRRESENCE TO DETER
THE USS TASK FORCE 61/2 DEPLOYMENT IN THE BALTIC SEA DURING SEPTEMER 2022 (111, 186)
At the first stage of the exercise, the military command and control bodies of the Baltic Naval Base, a number of naval formations, as well as individual military units of the fleet participating in the exercise were brought to increased levels of combat readiness.
As part of the exercise, naval tactical groups will leave their bases at the appointed time and deploy naval groupings of fleet forces in designated areas of the Baltic Sea to carry out training tasks.
In the Baltic Sea, the crews of small missile ships and boats, small anti-submarine ships, base and offshore minesweepers will work on a wide range of missions for their intended purpose - mine countermeasures for the deployment of forces and anti-underwater and sabotage defense of ships and boats when stationed in the roadstead. Also, the ship groups will have to practice joint actions of sailing in a single marching order, repelling the air attack of a mock enemy while shooting at air targets, and conducting a training naval battle.
In addition, during the exercise, naval groups of the Baltic Naval Base will carry out practical missile and artillery firing to engage ships and aircraft of a mock enemy...
The exercise involved the crews of more than 15 surface ships, boats and support vessels, over 1.5 thousand military personnel, more than 50 units of military and special equipment, as well as aircraft and helicopters of the naval aviation of the Baltic Fleet.
On 19 Sept 2022 Bombers of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation have redeployed to alternate airfields in the Kaliningrad region. As part of the combat readiness check, an exercise was conducted with the crews of Su-24M frontline bombers to relocate to alternate airfields in the Kaliningrad region.
During the training, pilots and engineering and technical personnel worked on preparing equipment for takeoff, withdrawing aircraft from the attack of a simulated enemy, and redeploying to alternate airfields in the region.
When redeploying to alternate airfields, the bomber crews met the standards for withdrawing forces from the attack, completing the assigned task. At the same time, the pilots practiced air battles with a simulated enemy at various altitudes, including extremely low ones.
About 10 Su-24M frontline bombers from the air regiment of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation unit were involved in the exercise.

Unidentified drones continue to appear around Norwegian oil and gas installations in the North Sea. At the weekend, a foreign drone was also observed in the Sleipner area.
Defense sources assume that a state actor is probably behind the activity. The purpose is uncertain, but in the current security policy situation may have the purpose of updating previous operational plans for possible sabotage actions against Norwegian oil and gas installations.
The Gina Krog oil and gas field is a very important distribution link for Norwegian gas supplies to Europe. The platform on the Gina Krog field is connected to Sleipner A and, according to Equinor's website, uses "both process capacity on the platform and existing pipelines to send the gas on to the market in Europe".

WE WILL KNOW SOON IF FRANCE IS FRIEND OR FOE (221)
On 20 Sept 2022 Liz Truss didn't discuss migrant crossings or Northern Ireland protocol in Macron talks, No 10 says. The pair agreed to enhance cooperation on energy security - but two more contentious issues were not the subject of conversation between the leaders... Number 10 said the prime minister had a "constructive" conversation lasting around half an hour with the French leader, but it focused on energy security rather than the two major points of contention.
The pair held their first bilateral meeting at the fringes of the United Nations summit in New York after Ms Truss caused controversy by refusing to say if the French leader was a "friend or foe" - instead saying "the jury's out".
"There is a will to re-engage, to move on and to show that we are allies and friends in a complex world."
Shortly before posting the tweet, Ms Truss admitted her tax cuts would disproportionately benefit the rich - but said she is willing to be an unpopular prime minister to bring in measures she believes will grow the economy.
While President Biden's criticism was surely for a domestic audience, it underlined the differences between the two leaders' stances just as Ms Truss says she wants to foster closer ties with international allies.
On 20 Sept 2022 Liz Truss sought to strike a conciliatory tone ahead of meeting with Emmanuel Macron, despite declining to say whether she believes the French President is a “friend or foe”.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for a “constructive relationship” combatting Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and unauthorised migrant crossings of the Channel in small boats...
Ms Truss sparked a diplomatic row during the Tory leadership contest when she declined to give a clear answer when asked if the president of the allied nation was a “friend or foe”.
Instead, the then-foreign secretary said last month that the “jury’s out”. Ms Truss did not return the verdict during an interview with journalists travelling with her to the summit, but stressed she wants a “constructive relationship with France”.
“Of course that means working together on the issue of migration. There are a number of other issues we need to work together on, whether it’s energy security, whether it’s other issues relating to our relationship with the EU – but most importantly, it’s ensuring that Putin does not succeed in Ukraine,” she said.
Ms Truss will meet Mr Macron on Tuesday, before seeing Mr Biden and Ms von der Leyen on Wednesday. She had been set to talk to the US President in Britain over the weekend as he visited for the Queen’s funeral, but the meeting was postponed. (189)

On 20 Sept 2022 Russian State TV Says Queen's Funeral Was Ideal Time to Nuke U.K. During a discussion on Monday, Andrey Gurulyov, a Russian member of parliament and a former army commander, disparaged President Joe Biden's appeal to Vladimir Putin not to use weapons of mass destruction, such as nuclear arms. When asked last week by CBS News about what his message would be to Putin if he was considering WMDs to help his faltering invasion, Biden replied, "don't, don't, don't," adding that this would spark consequences, without specifying further.
But Gurulyov appeared to dismiss the threat of any nuclear strike by Russia against Ukraine by suggesting that another target would be more likely.
"Did you hear all that nonsense he was spouting?" Gurulyov said of Biden, "what made him think we would conduct a nuclear strike against Ukraine?"
"We'll still have to live over there, in Ukraine. We have plenty of targets," he said, first mentioning the U.S. Air Force base in Ramstein, Germany. "Why would we bomb Ukraine and Germany when there is Britain, the root of evil?" he said.
Skabeyeva interrupted with, "We should have done it today. All the best people are there for the funeral."

“As for Russia, we won’t deviate from our sovereign course,” Putin said.
“Structures of the military industrial complex must deliver the required weapons and equipment in the shortest time possible,” Putin said.

DANISH AND SWEDISH NAVIES HURRY TO BORNHOLM AREA (009, 012, 186)

21-24 Sep 2022 - DK/SWE: Five days before the pipeline blasts, it was a chilly and overcast day on the east coast of Sweden. The Intelligence Ship - HSwMS - Swedish Corvette „K31 Visby“ (K31) was set on a southward course... The next morning, something must have happened.

The „Visby“ left Karlskrona on 22 September around 08.30 a.m. (06:30 UTC) at 18-20 knots, according to MarineTraffic data, effectively double the speed of its patrol ride on the previous day. Now it was heading southeast for Bornholm. Had it received a radio call instructing it to search for something?

The following day, 23 September, the „Visby“ rounded the island of Bornholm, passing closely by the later explosion site #1 in the process. After leaving the area westward, the naval corvette returned for a second look at explosion site #2 the following day, 24 September, around midday at 12:13 local time..

The Danish Patrol Boat - On the same morning of 22 September when the „Visby“ left Karlskrona seemingly in a hurry, the Danish Navy Patrol Boat „Nymfen“ P524 had already headed to the same waters northeast of Bornholm.

Nymfen left Rodbyhavn 21/9 ~19.50

Focusing on a particular section of the Danish patrol boat’s movements (blue box) near site #2, a search pattern emerges. The location of the blue box is approx. 18-20 km from the later explosion site #2.

The „Nymfen’s“ route on 22 Sept. – blue box: close-up area
The patrol boat’s movements seem to indicate a kind of search pattern. At one point, it almost came to a halt, moving at 1 knot or less (indicated by the red arrows). What information was it that brought the boat out to this location? Where did the information come from?
The fact is the „Nymfen“ was crusing in the highlighted area (blue box) between 08:17 a.m. local Swedish time (06:17 UTC) and 08:41 a.m. (06:41 UTC) — the same time that the Swedish warship „Visby“ was just leaving Karlskrona heading for the same general area.

The routes of the „Nymfen“ (left) and the „Visby“ (top, right) on 22 September.
By the time the „Visby“ arrived near explosion site #2 around 01:00 p.m. local time (11:00 UTC), the Danish patrol boat „Nymfen“ had already left for the nearby port of Nexø on the island of Bornholm.
THIS IS NOT A BLUFF
PUTIN GIVES CLEAR WARNING
SNAP NAVAL AND COMMAND EXERCISE BEGINS (110)
On 21 Sept 2022 Vladimir Putin: "If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will use all available means to protect our people – this is not a bluff".
On 21 Sept 2022 A bilateral command and staff exercise has begun in the Baltic Fleet
Over the course of several days, the Baltic Fleet ships will work out a wide range of tasks for their intended purpose - anti-mine support for the deployment of forces and anti-submarine and sabotage defense of ships and boats when moored at anchor. The ship groups will also have to work out joint actions in sailing in a single marching order, repelling air attacks by a simulated enemy with shooting at air targets and conducting a mock naval battle.
In addition, during the exercise, the naval groups of the Baltic Naval Base will carry out practical missile and artillery fire to destroy ships and aircraft of the simulated enemy.
In turn, as part of the exercise, servicemen of the detachment for combating underwater sabotage forces and means (PDSS) of the Baltic naval base of the fleet began to carry out tasks for their intended purpose - to protect ships and submarines of the Baltic fleet, the base from sabotage and reconnaissance units of a potential enemy, and the crews of the coastal missile systems "Bal" and "Bastion" moved to positional areas to conduct an exercise to protect the coast of the Kaliningrad region from landing-hazardous directions.
In total, more than 1,500 military personnel, over 50 units of military and special equipment, as well as aircraft and helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation are involved in the exercise, which started on September 19.
On 21 Sept 2022 Servicemen of the anti-aircraft missile unit of the Baltic Naval Base carried out firing from MANPADS. Servicemen from the air defense crews of the coastal missile unit of the Baltic Naval Base conducted live firing from Igla man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS). Anti-aircraft gunners hit targets simulating enemy drones and helicopters at different altitudes. Special signal parachute mortar mines were used as targets.
On 21 Sept 2022 Iskander-M OTRK crews destroyed training targets during an exercise in the Kaliningrad region. Having received the coordinates, the missilemen destroyed the command posts and satellite communication nodes of the simulated enemy, carrying out training (electronic) launches of cruise and aeroballistic missiles.
On 21 Sept 2022 Swimmers of the special forces detachment of the Baltic naval base performed underwater shooting. In the area of the Khmelevka training ground, as part of a bilateral command and staff exercise, servicemen of the detachment for combating underwater sabotage forces and means (PDSS) of the Baltic Naval Base carried out firing both on land and underwater.
The servicemen fired from standard small arms on land and from a special underwater pistol SPP-1 and a special underwater assault rifle APS - underwater. The saboteurs were imitated by life-size target models. In addition, the servicemen practiced diving to various depths, underwater navigation in conditions of limited visibility, and detonating a floating mine.

On 21 Sept 2022 Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister - Don't threaten anyone with nuclear weapons
According to Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Russia is not threatening anyone with nuclear weapons. An open confrontation with the USA and NATO is not in Russia's interest, state news agencies quoted Ryabkov as saying. "There can be no winners in a nuclear war and it should never be fought."
At the same time, Ryabkov stated that US-Russia relations were "close to zero." The RIA Novosti news agency also quoted the Russian ambassador to the United States as saying that he hoped that Moscow and Washington were not on the verge of falling into the "abyss of a nuclear conflict." to fall.
LIZ TRUSS IS AN AGRESSOR
MARKOV´S WARNING TO LONDON (110, 113)
A former key adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened Britain with nuclear strikes in an interview with the BBC on Wednesday, shortly after Moscow announced a widespread mobilization of troops.
“In Russia there’s partial mobilization and for your British listeners Vladimir Putin told you that he would be ready to use nuclear weapons against Western countries, including nuclear weapons against Great Britain,” Sergei Markov told the BBC.
“Your cities will be targeted,” said the former Russian lawmaker, who serves as a key public defender of the Kremlin to the international press.
“Everybody in the world now is thinking of nuclear war,” Markov said, claiming that a potential escalation would be due to the “crazy behavior” of US President Joe Biden, as well the former and current British prime ministers Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
“Biden, Johnson and Truss are fully responsible for the war in Ukraine,” he claimed, nearly seven months after Russia invaded its neighbor.
“It was absolutely clear that Russia has no war against Ukraine, Russia has no reason to use technical nuclear weapons against Ukrainians,” Markov said.
Putin has previously warned the West not to push Russia against the wall and has rebuked NATO countries for supplying weapons to help Ukraine.
In his address, which was far shorter than previous speeches about the Ukraine war, Putin accused the West of engaging in “nuclear blackmail” and noted “statements of some high-ranking representatives of the leading NATO states about the possibility of using nuclear weapons of mass destruction against Russia.”
He didn’t identify who had made such comments.
“To those who allow themselves such statements regarding Russia, I want to remind you that our country also has various means of destruction, and for separate components and more modern than those of NATO countries and when the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, to protect Russia and our people, we will certainly use all the means at our disposal,” Putin said.
He added: “It’s not a bluff.”
On 21 Sept 2022 Ex-Putin adviser warns UK cities could be hit with nuclear weapons if Britain ‘continues to be aggressor’. Sergey Markov says ‘a lot of people in Western countries’ could be killed in nuclear war on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme
An ex-adviser to Vladimir Putin has claimed UK cities could be a nuclear target for the Russian president and blamed the Ukraine war on the West as he launched into a bizarre rant on British radio.
Sergey Markov made a host of unsubstantiated claims - including that Western countries are using Ukrainian soldiers “as slaves” - before shouting down the phone line during his interview.
He threatened the West with nuclear war before he was asked any questions on BBC’s Today programme on Wednesday morning.
“Good morning to you,”
He continued:
Mr Markov said “your cities will be target..” before being interrupted.
After claiming Russia wanted peace, Mr Markov was challenged by the BBC presenter who said: “You haven’t been talking much about peace, have you? You’ve just threatened us all with complete destruction, nuclear missiles coming to London, you said, and now you talk about peace.”
Mr Markov replied: “If Great Britain continues to be aggressor against Russia, if the prime minister of Great Britain, Liz Truss, still has a plan to destroy Russia, people in London should understand this threat comes from Liz Truss who is aggressor.” (113)

On 21 Sept 2022 Putin mobilizes and threatens nuclear weapons. President Vladimir Putin has announced partial mobilization in what is a clear Russian escalation of the war in Ukraine. It includes 300,000 reservists.
"I am not bluffing", said the Russian president when he announced the decision in a televised speech on Wednesday morning. Shortly afterwards, Defense Minister Sergej Sjojgu stated in a televised interview that 300,000 people in the reserve forces will be mobilised.
He assured that this should not apply to conscripts and students, only those who have relevant combat experience.
The West wants to destroy Russia
In the speech, Putin said he is willing to use all available means to defend Russian territories while accusing the West of wanting to "weaken, divide and ultimately destroy our country."
- "To those who allow themselves to make such statements about Russia, I would like to remind that our country also has various means of destruction", Putin said.
- "When our country's territorial integrity is threatened, we will clearly use all the means we have to protect Russia and our people. This is no hoax", he added.
Nuclear threat
At the same time, Putin accused the West of carrying out "nuclear blackmail", after which he referred to "statements by some high-ranking representatives of leading NATO countries about the possibility of using weapons of mass destruction against Russia". It is unclear which statements he was referring to.
On 21 Sept 2022 Putin speech on partial mobilisation: What exactly did he say?
Partial mobilisation
“In such a situation, I consider it necessary to make the following decision, which is fully appropriate to threats we face. Namely, in order to protect our motherland, its sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to ensure the safety of our people and people in the liberated territories, I consider it necessary to support the proposal of the defence ministry and the General Staff to conduct a partial mobilisation in the Russian Federation.”
“We are talking about partial mobilisation. That is, only citizens who are currently in the reserves and, above all, those who have served in the armed forces, have military skills and relevant experience. Only they will be subject to conscription.”
Fighting the West
“Today our armed forces are operating across a front line that exceeds 1,000 km, opposing not only neo-Nazi formations but the entire military machine of the collective West.”
“NATO is conducting reconnaissance across the south of Russia. Washington, London and Brussels are directly pushing Kyiv to move military action to our country. They are openly saying that Russia should be defeated on the battlefield by any means.”
Nuclear weapons
Nuclear blackmail has also been used. We are talking not only about the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant – encouraged by the West – which threatens to cause a nuclear catastrophe but also about statements from senior representatives of NATO countries about the possibility and permissibility of using weapons of mass destruction against Russia: nuclear weapons.
“I would like to remind those who make such statements about Russia that our country also possesses various means of destruction, and in some cases, they are more modern than those of NATO countries. When the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we, of course, will use all the means at our disposal to protect Russia and our people."
“This is not a bluff. And those who try to blackmail us with nuclear weapons should know that the weathervane can turn and point towards them.”

Germany on Wednesday announced a deal to nationalize Uniper—the country’s biggest gas importer—in a move that comes months after neighboring France nationalized its biggest utility company EDF, as countries across Europe scramble to respond to an ongoing energy crisis sparked by Russia’s decision to completely cut off the supply of natural gas to the region via the critical Nord Stream 1 pipeline.
As part of the deal, the German government has agreed to acquire Finnish state-energy firm Fortum’s 78% stake in Uniper for nearly half a billion euros (nearly $480 million) raising its total stake in the company to 99%.
With the Nord Stream 1 pipeline being out of action, Russian gas supplies to Europe are now primarily flowing through Ukraine, but Moscow has threatened to shut this supply route as the G7, led by the U.S., moves to impose a global price cap on Russian oil.
Germany is not the first European country to nationalize a major utility provider in recent months. In July, the French government agreed to pay nearly €10 billion ($9.9 billion) to fully nationalize the electricity giant EDF, by acquiring the remaining 16% of the company’s shares that it did not already own.
Earlier this month, Russia warned that supplies through the key Nord Stream 1 pipeline will not resume until the West lifts all sanctions against it. Moscow argues the sanctions have prevented it from carrying out needed maintenance on the critical pipeline—an argument that European officials have dismissed.

US-UK SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP ICED (023)
Is the 'special relationship' all over? Joe Biden did not use the phrase during first meeting with Liz Truss, sparking rumour it is being 'retired'
The phrase has long stood for the enduring bond between the UK and US.
But Liz Truss’s first meeting with Joe Biden in Washington suggested the term ‘special relationship’ may be phased out as she launched her new foreign policy ethos.
The President did not utter the words, first used by Winston Churchill, during bilateral talks, but instead told her: ‘You’re our closest ally in the world.’
...Last night the White House denied the term had been ‘retired’ but offered to suspend its use, with an official saying: ‘We’ll shut it down until we can figure out what’s going on.’
However, the exchange was in sharp contrast to when Miss Truss entered No 10 earlier this month.
At the time, Mr Biden said he looked forward to ‘deepening the special relationship’ between the two nations.

On 29 Sept 2022 The "Rekin" exercise was to show that we are capable of commanding an operation involving not only Polish ships, but also foreign ones.
"Initially, the forces were integrated at the level of divisions and flotillas. Then, the separate component was placed under the command of Vice Adm. Krzysztof Jaworski, commander of COM-DKM. I had the opportunity to command the Task Force, i.e. task forces that operated directly at sea. Ships of various types left ports - from minesweepers and minehunters, through transport units, to strike ships, such as the frigate or patrol corvette ORP "Ślązak" . It was therefore an excellent opportunity to integrate the forces of the Polish Navy. However, we went a step further. Among the exercising ships were from Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. We also had sailors from these countries in the staffs and individual commands. The exercises themselves were conducted according to NATO procedures, and information exchange took place in English. In fact, we were not dealing with internal exercises. We can say that in reality, a NATO team operated under the orders of COM-DKM."

Labour says new merged foreign policy council could reduce Whitehall policy-makers’ focus on security.
Liz Truss has scrapped the national security council and merged it with two Boris Johnson-era foreign policy committees in a structure that Labour warned risked diluting the government’s security focus.

On 23 Sept 2022 Putin puppet warns Truss Russian victory 'impossible without nuclear explosion'
Kremlin propagandist Olga Skabeyeva has declared a Western victory over Moscow would result in total global destruction at the hands of a nuclear conflict. During a broadcast on state-controlled television channel Russia One, Ms Skabeyeva asked: “What do they want? They want a victory over Russia. Victory over Russia is impossible without a nuclear explosion.”
The Russian political pundit continued: “It is out of the question because we will not allow the destruction of our country."
“If you try to destroy us, you will be destroyed along with us."
“What are our next steps? [Striking] the decision-making centres - in Kyiv, London, Washington.”
She added: “Unless [the West] stop, this will become a reality.”
“What is the goal of the collective West? To achieve the victory of Ukraine and the defeat of Russia. As long as we have nukes, and the Russian Federation does have nukes, its defeat is impossible."
“If you push us into a corner, everyone will be destroyed. Is that what they're trying to achieve?
Putin said so clearly: 'We are not threatening, we don't want war. We are the first in line to stop it - and we don't want a nuclear winter or a nuclear war.’ But, if you claim that we will be destroyed, we will have to destroy you. There are no other options.”
Ms Skabeyeva expressed her hopes that some “sensible people”, presumably a selection of Western leaders, would recognise the danger and stop the global interference in Russia’s “special military operation”. (113)
The official said that Russian official who sat in the chamber for most of the meeting – Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin – and his team “were pretty much stone faced throughout.”
A planned meeting between Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and Russian chief diplomat Sergei Lavrov in New York has fallen through.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz (64, SPD) believes that Germany's energy supply over the winter is secure from the current perspective.
With the switch to alternative gas supply sources and the construction of LNG terminals that has begun, but also with the continued operation of coal-fired power plants and the nuclear reserve, the conditions have been created, he said on Friday at a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the IG BCE union in Hanover. "All of this has contributed to the fact that we can now say: We will get through this winter. Who would have thought that a few months ago?"
"National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met today in Washington with Executive Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. They discussed our shared efforts to address the global climate crisis, including the recent U.S. passage of the Inflation Reduction Act and preparations for COP-27 in Egypt. They also discussed transatlantic cooperation to address Russia’s weaponization of energy and the need to ensure our ongoing efforts to meet acute near-term energy needs are matched by a redoubled commitment to accelerating the clean energy transition and reducing Europe’s dependence on fossil fuels."
After the announced nationalization of the energy company Uniper, the state could intervene in another energy company. This is Securing Energy for Europe (Sefe, formerly Gazprom Germania), which is already under the trusteeship of the Federal Network Agency. According to a "Spiegel" report, Sefe will become the property of the state. The company is a subsidiary of the Russian state-owned company Gazprom.
When asked, a spokeswoman for Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) said that discussions about the future of Sefe were ongoing within the federal government. She cannot currently provide any further details. The former Gazprom Germania is still owned by the Russian energy company Gazprom. However, it is under federal trust to ensure security of gas supply in Germany.

Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu attended on Thursday a transatlantic working dinner of the EU and NATO foreign affairs ministers, a traditional event hosted by the US and carried out in New York, on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly.
According to a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release sent to AGERPRES on Saturday, the discussions were also attended by High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Moreover, also attending the event were foreign affairs ministers of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia.
"Therefore, he underscored that one of the effects of Russia's war against Ukraine has also been the reinforcement of the transatlantic relation, which currently is more stronger than ever, contrary to Russia's aspirations which relied on speculating divisions between the two shores of the Atlantic. Moreover, taking into account Russia's actions to manipulate the international democratic states by using the strategic dependencies related, among others, to energy or food, Minister Aurescu underscored the necessity to remove any dependencies of Russia, both of Western states and that of their partners," the MAE release said. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban calls for an end to EU sanctions against Russia. Orban told his ruling party Fidesz at a closed meeting that he was in favor of expiring sanctions over the Russian attack on Ukraine, government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs confirmed to Reuters.
The Hungarian newspaper "Magyar Nemzet" quoted Orban as saying that EU sanctions had driven up gas prices and inflation. If these measures were lifted, gas prices would immediately fall by 50 percent and inflation would also fall. However, the EU has not imposed any sanctions on gas imports from Russia, but rather on Russian oil and coal. Without sanctions, Europe could regain strength and avoid an impending recession, the newspaper quoted Orban as saying. Hungary's head of government has long criticized the sanctions.
Interestingly later Victor Orban stated that: "We let the blowing up of the Nord Stream pipeline go unchallenged" and "Germany itself let an act of terrorism against its own property — which was obviously carried out under US direction — go unchallenged, and we are not saying a word about it, we are not investigating it, we do not want to clarify it, we do not want to raise it in a legal context. Støre does not believe Russia poses a threat to Norway’s own territorial integrity, but labeled the aggression “unacceptable.” He also censured Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s late arrival and early departure from the meeting.
“He chose not to listen to any of the interventions. He spoke and he left after he had spoken, which is, to me, a sign of, in a way, insecurity,” he said.
Jonas Gahr Støre tells Dagbladet that he found it difficult to judge whether Putin is insecure, but is clear that the Russian escalation shows the Russians that the war is not just a simple operation.

WE ARE DETERMINED THAT THE WAR NOT EXPAND, NOT GET BROADER
On 25 Sept 2022 Secretary Blinken answers: Would anyone in Russia stop Putin if he wanted to use nukes? U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told 60 Minutes the Kremlin has a nuclear "chain of command" but it's uncertain whether anyone would tell Russian President Vladimir Putin "no" if he decides to launch a nuclear weapon.
"And that is the Achilles heel of autocracies anywhere," the secretary of state said. …There is usually not anyone who has the capacity or the will to speak truth to power. And part of the reason, I think, Russia has gotten itself into the mess that it's in is because there is no one in the system to effectively tell Putin he's doing the wrong thing." ¨
Putin drafted 300,000 reservists and threatened nuclear war last Wednesday, and emphasized, "this is not a bluff." In an address to his people, Putin told his people that the West is bent on destroying the Russian homeland.
"President Biden has been determined that as we're doing everything we can to help the Ukrainians defend themselves, as we're doing everything we can to rally other countries to put pressure on Russia, we're also determined that this war not expand, not get broader," Blinken explained. US national security adviser says: ‘Any use of nuclear weapons will be met with catastrophic consequences for Russia’
“We have communicated directly, privately and at very high levels to the Kremlin that any use of nuclear weapons will be met with catastrophic consequences for Russia, that the US and our allies will respond decisively, and we have been clear and specific about what that will entail,” Sullivan told CBS’s Face the Nation.
Sullivan said that the Russian leader had been “waving around the nuclear card at various points through this conflict”, and it was a matter that Biden’s administration has “to take deadly seriously because it is a matter of paramount seriousness – the possible use of nuclear weapons for the first time since the second world war”.
On 25 Sept 2022 Transcript: National security adviser Jake Sullivan on "Face the Nation,"
SULLIVAN: "We have been crystal clear up to and including President Biden that we will not recognize the sham referenda, they in no way represent the will of the Ukrainian people. And we will treat this territory for what it is - Ukrainian territory, not Russian territory. And we will continue to support the Ukrainians as they seek to deoccupy this territory. So we've been clear, we're not going to stop or slow down our support to the Ukrainians, no matter what Putin tries to do with these-these fake elections and fake referenda and annexation. Now, when it comes to the question of nuclear use, President Putin's been waving around the nuclear card at various points through this conflict the last few days are not the first time"–
(CROSSTALK)
MARGARET BRENNAN: – "But he hasn't been as cornered as he is now."
SULLIVAN: "It's true, and it is a matte4r that we have to take deadly seriously because it is a matter of paramount seriousness – the possible use of nuclear weapons for the first time since the Second World War. We have communicated directly, privately, at very high levels to the Kremlin, that any use of nuclear weapons will be met with catastrophic consequences for Russia, that the United States in our allies will respond decisively. And we have been clear and specific about what that will entail. We have, in public, been equally clear, as a matter of principle, that the United States will respond decisively if Russia uses nuclear weapons and that we will continue to support Ukraine in its efforts to defend its country and defend its democracy."
Globally, the existential threat to democracy is Vladimir Putin, whose decision to invade Ukraine has produced the biggest conflict in Europe since the Second World War. Putin is now threatening to use Russia's nuclear weapons, saying in a televised address, "This is not a bluff." President Biden responded at the United Nations."
CHUCK TODD:
While you were talking, we were able to show some footage of people voting with – under the supervision of armed Russian guards, so just to give folks a taste of what kind of referendum this is. I want to talk about the nuclear threats from Vladimir Putin. There was a report this week that folks in the Biden administration have made it clear, privately, of the severe consequences. Does this mean the red phone is working again? Because at the beginning of this conflict there was a lot of concern that some of the basic communications that we had from military to military, intel to intel, you had a hard time getting your counterparts to return calls. Does this mean the red phone is working again?"
JAKE SULLIVAN:
"Well, Chuck, we've been careful to protect the timing and the content of the conversations we have with the Russian government, with the Kremlin. But the answer to your question is yes. We do have the capacity to speak directly at senior levels and to be clear about our messages to them and to receive their messages. That has happened frequently over the course of the past few months. It has happened even in just the last few days. But we have not wanted to indicate exactly what those channels look like because we want to be able to protect them so that we have the continuing ability to reach Russia and tell them in no uncertain terms, for example, what the consequences would be, and they would be catastrophic if Russia went down the dark road of nuclear weapons use."
CHUCK TODD:
I guess the question is, why this, why the strategic ambiguity here? Why not draw a public line? If he's publicly threatening nuclear weapons, why not send a public message, which I'm sure the people in Europe and Ukraine would like to hear, that says, "You cross this line, Katy bar the door, Mr. Putin?"
JAKE SULLIVAN:
"Well, let me say it plainly. If Russia crosses this line there will be catastrophic consequences for Russia. The United States will respond decisively. Now, in private channels we have spelled out in greater detail exactly what that would mean, but we want to be able to have the credibility of speaking directly to senior leadership in Russia and laying out for them what the consequences would be without getting into a rhetorical tit for tat publicly. But we will not hesitate in saying publicly that there will be catastrophic consequences for Russia --
CHUCK TODD:
You've used that --
JAKE SULLIVAN:
– if they --
CHUCK TODD:
– word twice --
JAKE SULLIVAN:
– choose to proceed. And the United States and our allies will respond decisively.
CHUCK TODD:
"You've used that word “catastrophic” just now twice. I assume you will not give more definition to that, but should Putin use the definition of his imagination there? “Catastrophic” is just that, as bad as he could imagine?"
JAKE SULLIVAN:
"Well, Russia understands very well what the United States would do in response to the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine because we have spelled it out for them, and I will leave it at that today. But as far as the question of deterrence is concerned, you know, Russia will make its decisions, but it will do so fully understanding that the United States will respond decisively. And from our perspective, we will continue to be sharp and clear with them so that there is no mistake about where things stand from our perspective."
The commander of the Bundeswehr's new domestic command, Carsten Breuer, wants to quickly improve the ability to respond to targeted destabilization. A "hybrid influence on Germany's security architecture, i.e. this situation in which one has to say that it is no longer quite peace, but it is not quite war either", is the "worst case"; for the command, said the lieutenant general of the German Press Agency, before the central command post was put into service on Monday in Berlin by Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (both SPD).
The Ministry of Defense describes hybrid warfare as when opposing powers rely on a combination of classic military operations, economic pressure, hacker attacks on the infrastructure and propaganda in the media and social networks. Instability arises that must be responded to. “Mastering this, across the entire spectrum, is the core of this command,” says Breuer. In response to the changed security situation after the Russian attack in Ukraine, the Defense Minister decided to consolidate the leadership of the armed forces domestically in the new command in the Julius Leber barracks in Berlin. The Bundeswehr continues to have an operational command in Schwielowsee near Potsdam to manage foreign operations.
7:16 p.m.: Scholz - Staying the course even after Putin's declaration
Chancellor Olaf Scholz announces that he will stick to his course even after ordering partial Russian mobilization. If Russian President Vladimir Putin were to threaten to use nuclear weapons again, “we would say again: that is unacceptable. But at the same time, we remain on our measured, decisive course to support Ukraine and prevent an escalation of the war beyond that between Russia and Ukraine. And that's exactly how we will continue to do it," Scholz told ARD Tagesthemen according to the preliminary report. Germany will also remain on its current course when it comes to supplying weapons. It remains the case that Germany does not go it alone.
On 25 Sept 2022 Habeck expects hydrogen and LNG deals this weekend
Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) will conclude contracts in the areas of hydrogen and liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the Arabian Peninsula at the weekend. This is what Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) says with regard to the United Arab Emirates. "Persistent effort leads to success."
Habeck continued: Germany is currently having to buy expensive energy elsewhere because there have been no Russian deliveries. This will cost the country 60 billion euros this year and 100 billion next year, roughly two percent of economic output. But, according to Habeck: "The investment capacity of the German economy and industry must be maintained.”
On 25 Sept 2022 Germany secures more gas shipments as Scholz visits Gulf
On 25 Sept 2022 Scholz wants closer energy cooperation with the Emirates
Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) wants to further promote cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in the energy sector. You already have "a whole series" of diesel and liquid gas projects with the Gulf state, said the SPD politician on Sunday in Abu Dhabi. He emphasized how important it is to rely on as many providers as possible when supplying energy. Dependence on one supplier “will certainly not happen to us again,” emphasized Scholz. Until the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, Germany still got 55 percent of its natural gas from Russia. Deliveries from there have now largely stopped and German gas suppliers are looking for new sources of supply. The United Arab Emirates has the seventh largest natural gas reserves in the world. A contract for the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Germany was expected to be signed during the Chancellor's visit.
On 25 Sept 2022 : UAE agrees LNG deal with Germany as Berlin looks to replace Russian gas. Chancellor Olaf Scholz visits Gulf states in drive to secure energy imports. The United Arab Emirates has agreed a deal to supply liquefied natural gas to Germany as Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the Gulf state as part of a regional tour seeking to drum up alternatives to Russian energy. Abu Dhabi National Oil Company will supply Germany utility RWE with 137,000 cubic metres of LNG later this year, which will be the first delivery to the under-construction import terminal on the north-west coast at Brunsbüttel, RWE and the UAE state media said. Adnoc was expected to reserve another five LNG cargoes for German customers in 2023, a person briefed on the matter said on Sunday.
Chancellor says he and Liz Truss want to do what previous Tory governments deemed unthinkable
...Asked about fiscal plans that will add about £400bn to public borrowing over the coming years, Kwarteng said he was committed to debt as a proportion of GDP falling over time, but gave no details as to how or when.
“Obviously, you can’t borrow for ever, and that’s why on Friday I was very specific, very careful, to say that we’re going to have a medium-term fiscal plan,” he said, arguing that the government had to respond to the economic shocks of Covid and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“We had two multigenerational unprecedented events,” he said. “There’s no way that a government shouldn’t respond in a fiscally expansive way, in a way that we can support the economy, support our people through these two unprecedented shocks.“All I would say on borrowing is we’ve managed to respond to two of what they call exogenous shocks that were not in our control and were of unprecedented scale, and that was absolutely the right thing to do.”
Asked if there was a limit to the new borrowing, Kwarteng replied: “What I’m not going to do is to say that if there is an exogenous, extreme event I can’t possibly say we won’t borrow to deal with that.”
